New owners have been busy rennovating and reviving the Pelican Beach Front Hotel in Playa Esterillos since purchasing it last September.
It had been several years since we last visited and to be completely honest after our last visit we didn't think we'd ever go again. It took a bit of convincing to get Bill to give it another chance. We're both glad we did!
The food has alwaya been good in the restaurant even if the accomodations were lacking. We ate both lunch and dinner in the restaurant and were not dissapointed. For lunch I had the nachos which turned out to be more of a taco salad, a pleasant surprise. Hubby opted for the fish tacos. He said he'd share but they disappeared before I got one. Yep, that good!
Dinner, aahhh dinner...my mouth is watering a week later just thinking about it. Bill ordered the tuna steak with wasabi dipping sauce. I ordered the grilled mahi mahi.
The ample portions allowed us to share our meals. After much debate we agreed both were delicious in their own right. So good and different that we couldn't say one was better than the other. We'd order them both again. And again. And again!
As for the accomodations, much better than we remembered. The hotel has been cleaned up and repainted. All of the old swamp cooler type air conditioning units have been replaced with more modern, quiet units that don't drip on your belongings.
Ours was a poolside room on the first floor that suited our needs.
The food, accomodations and reasonable prices will bring us back again. We had such a pleasurable experience we're already planning another beachfront get-away!
I do have to give a shout-out to Stacy who met us when we arrived and made sure our mini-vacation was all we could have wanted it to be from the moment we got there. Thanks Again!
