The little bird I had trouble identifying has been identified! As was suspected it was a young Yellow Crowned Euphonia.
These aren't the best photos but they are enough to help me make the positive ID. :)
I hadn't seen him around for a few days then, early one morning I saw him in all his grown up glory.
