The chaos that is the Fiestas Civica de Palmares was in the beginning stages as we drove through the town yesterday on the way to a friends house.
Signs were being hung down the main road into town while those hoping to make a profit on the fringes of the festivities set up their parade viewing platforms and roadside restaurants. Places like this makeshift McDonalds that will be gone as soon as the festival is over.
Today is NOT the day to visit Plamares unless you want to take part in the chaos that occurs during the annual tope, horse parade. It is something to be experienced, once.
If you want to see the event but don't want to brave the drunken crowds check local television channels 6 or 7 as it it usually televised.
