It's party time in the nearby town of Palmares. We'd been to several topes, horse parades in the past with thousands of other people but hadn't been to check out the other areas during the nearly two week festival.
While debating what to have for dinner yesterday we came up with the idea of going to the festival to see what they had to offer. Our thought was on a Monday afternoon after a big Sunday night concert there wouldn't be too many people. We were right! No too many people at all. It was a perfect time to wander the artesan booths but not the best time for something to eat as many off the food booths weren't open yet.
We did find a few places open and had a decent meal but one has to keep in mind the festival is a money making event. The food vendors are there to make money. We found few places where prices were listed. So unless you want to eat at one of the well known food places like Taco Bell or Pizza Hut be prepared to pay.
After what we thought would be an early dinner, (it took 30 minutes or more to get our food) we wandered the carnival area. It looked like a fun way to spend an afternoon with small children.
As the lights came on and more people arrived it was time for us to leave.
But not before one last stop to get our candied peanuts, cotton candy and meat on a stick!
As we drove away the three of us agreed we'd probably go back again. The bad memories of previous Palmares festivals have been replaced with good one.
