What's hubby, Bill been up to while I've been going to various classes and meetings? He's been painting our roof. Why? Because it's there. Seriously, when we redid the roof we chose to put up the typical and cheaper "sin" or corregated metal roof. There are other options but eso es, this is it...what "we" (meaning "he") chose knowing full well it would need to eventually be painted to protect it from weathering.
This is the first year we've had to paint. You get a couple of years off when the roofing is new as there is some kind of protective crap on it. After almost a month and about 20 gallons of paint hubby is seriously beginning to wonder if another type of roofing material would've been more cost effective in the long run. More cost effective and less labor intensive.
Before he even got to the painting the entire roof had to be scrubbed and scraped.
Finally the painting began on the steepest & most difficult part.
This took a couple of days to complete.
Then on to the main part of the roof.
A difficult part as well due to the tree hanging over part of it. The tree drops branches and the birds leave their donations on this part.
The back finished, this is only half the roof. He's gotten lucky with the weather. Other areas around us have had rain recently but we had just a light sprinkle yesterday.
Main stuff complete...now he's just doing touch-ups. His biggest complaint about the painting is it's messing up his golf game. Seems the painting and using different muscles has thrown his game off.
He's up there now doing the last bit hoping 5 days rest before his next round will be enough to get his game back.
For those wondering why I put so many individual photos of Bill working instead of just a couple or a slide show ...it's a show of respect for the long hours he's put in. Plus, I want people to get a sense of how tedious a task this is. Remember this is now an annual task. Living in paradise isn't all fun and games. The weather takes it's toll.
