Yes, I'm amazed. Earlier I was apprehensive about going to the hospital for an E.K.G. ordered by my doctor. The exam didn't bother me it was having to go to the hospital and well...deal with it. You know, expecting a long wait, forms to fill out, questions. A general pain in the tush before having an exam one would like to be um, relatively calm for.
So, Bill and I went out for breakfast before going to the hospital. We expected to be sitting there through lunch and figured it was better to be sitting full instead of hungry. We got to the waiting area for the E.K.G. fifteen minutes before my appointment. My buns barely touched the seat before the tech asked for my orders. I returned to my seat, pulled out my sewing and was called for my exam before I could sew a single stitch.
No forms, no questions, wham, bam, thank-you Ma'am. I had my report and was out the door walking to my car in ten minutes. No lie! Simply amazing!
In other medical news we did opt to have the ordered chest X-ray done by the private lab instead of waiting until September for my appointment through the Caja. We chose this route simply because we wanted to have all the info requested by the doctor for my next appointment. The cost for the chest X-ray was 19,000 colones with the report, 17,000 colones without. I went in one morning and had the X-ray taken in a matter of minutes. I had to return two days later for the written report.
While people in the states are up in arms about the state of health care there I couldn't be happier with the health care I'm getting here. There is no way I could get an E.K.G. or an X-ray done in the states and been in and out in under 30 minutes. The paperwork alone would've taken at least that long.
Oh, I forgot to mention I walked out with the X-rays and E.K.G in hand. Nothing is sent to the doctor. I have the info. Imagine that, the patient given control of their records. Interesting concept, don't ya think?
