HAPPY NEW YEAR!

WELCOME 2010, A YEAR LIKE NO OTHER!
 

Things are going boom in the night! Once again our daughter is the voice of reason... Both Bill & I are itching to blow off all the fireworks. She's pacing us wanting to still have some to shoot off at mid-night. If it wasn't for my chocolate haystack cookie buzz I'd already be in bed. For all the dog lovers out there we bought fireworks without the booms, just color coming from our house. Our little dog is doing just fine hanging out on the porch with us. HAPPY HAPPY 2010 to those around the world who've already welcomed in the new year.

We are ready to welcome the new decade with a bang! Bill & I just got back from one of the firework stands in town. Better prices this year than last. We got some of the big, flower types, some rockets and a few others hubby couldn't resist. CRAZY how you can but them everywhere here. I can't wait for it to get dark so we can start playing with things that explode in the night.

All my little friends seem to love eating from this tree. Sorry, I don't know what it is. Probably been told but I just don't remember. The birds love hanging out in this tree year round but when it comes in bloom everyone comes in for a bite.

Christmas in Zarcero

I've wanted to see the topiaries in Zarcero lit up for Christmas since the first time I saw them over four years ago. This year Bill made my wish come true. I popped a chicken in the oven to roast one afternoon and off we went on our adventure. Zarcero is a short 20 to 30 minute drive from our home in San Ramon. We could see the lights and be home in time for dinner.

The lights weren't what I expected. Another lesson in having no expectations. There were less lights than I had imagined. Perhaps in years past they've had more. A sign of the economy?  Some lights, like on my tree at home didn't light up at all. At least now I've seen the lights at night on the topiaries in Zarcero.
