NO, it is not too early for a Christmas tree! Remember, Costa Rica as a country does not recognize Thanksgiving Day so there is nothing to wait for. Besides, with the winds it feels like fall around here even though we're heading into summer.
Initially, we thought we'd buy a couple of potted trees and replant them elsewhere after the holiday. Finding them this week wasn't easy but I was determined and Bill was a willing participant.
Notice the confused look on Bill's face? Last year we bought a tree from a guy on a street corner. It was a Charlie Brown tree. Bill wasn't happy with it from the minute it came off the car. This year he was making sure he got "the" best tree he could find.
This young man assured us we got the best tree, okay one of the best trees on the lots. Yes, lots. The trees were spread out on several different lots, five in all I think. We walked and walked and viewed every single tree from every angle. Taking note of bare spots, dry spots and shape. We'd settled on one when Jessica the sales lady pointed out it would lose it's shape if we trimmed the bottom. Whew! Glad she pointed that out.
I'm off to town today to get some lights then there is no stopping me... IT"S CHRISTMAS TIME! Decorate and bake...aw the smell of pine (okay, cedar in this case) and sugar cookies. Breakin out the Christmas CD's soon.
