Amazing Nature

I was working outside the other day and happened to have my camera handy. Okay, I was cutting amapola branches that were limiting my view into the forest. So of course I had my camera.

I'm always trying to photograph butterflies. It's easier to shoot hummingbirds than butterflies believe it or not. Neither is really easy.

This beautiful speciman landed on a bush long enough for me to wipe my hands and grab the camera.

 

Imagine my surprise when she started laying eggs.

 

What an awesome act of nature to witness.

Yes, that's right! This guy is phenominal if you ask me.

 

Nature is AMAZING!

Just look at his color and markings.

 'Tis the season for mushrooms in my yard.

  

  

I had fun playing with perspective with these delicate little fungi.

Striped torch

 

A grouping of bromeliad we rescued last year when we cut our orange trees back. I turned a corner of the yard into an airplant garden. At least that's where these are at the moment. Who knows where I'll put them next.

The hummingbirds love them. And I love the hummingbirds so I keep this batch low to the ground. There are plenty in the trees that surround the house. They grown in the lower branches of our amapolas as well. If you're in Costa Rica this time of year you'll most likely see them. I've even seen them growing on power lines.

The blue sky and passing clouds make a perfect backdrop for these bamboo orchids.
